Simple is Still the Best.As we make progress, we sometimes forget the basics. Old sayings are pushed aside as cliche terms. KISS - Keep it simple and short is ignored. The late legendary anchor Tim Russert used the the simple white board technique to convey his ideas to the main stream effectively.

(Some browsers may not show the embedded video. If so, please watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVWe551ciHY)

The same technique can be used in business settings to convey the bottom line more effectively in lesser words and less time.

Brevity is important.

What do you think? Should I do this first or that, when will I finish this, how do I do that, when and how I can accomplish it, this way or that, when do I meet the deadlines, what should I teach my kid, how can I spend more quality time with my wife and son, how will I meet deadlines at work, what if this or that... etc, etc., I think you get the idea.

And in the process, I was not doing anything.... just jumping between the tasks without actually completing anything.

My head was about to explode and suddenly it became calm the moment I remembered WANTing without NEEDing.

Yes I do want to finish all my work, yes I do want to achieve all my goals YESTERDAY or right now or as soon as possible, but there's no need to get attached to it. But, this simple exercise is powerful and here it is yours free for the taking.

Sit in a comfortable position, with spine erect
Take a deep breath and release - do this twice
This puts you in alpha state
Now, visualize, image, explore and experience every great thing that could happen when your dream or desire comes true. Do this as long as you want, just see the end results as vividly as possible. Just imagine a future date where your dream has already come true.
Then, anchor it and let go! (This is an important step and see details below)

About visualizing, suppose one of your desires is to own a BMW 335i Convertible: Imagine you just bought it, fully paid, driving around your favorite streets, parked in front of the house, showing it off to friends, giving your loved one a ride.

If your desire is to have 10 million visitors to your website everyday, imagine how does it make you feel.

Let go, the important step: At the end of the exercise, anchor it, and tell your mind "Dear mind, please guide me, take right actions and make it come true" and just release and let go of your thoughts and move on to anything you need to do at the moment.

How to anchor?: Anchor by touching or doing something in a unique way. For eg: place your hand on your heart and say "Dear mind, please guide me, take right actions and make it come true" and experience the feelings of you enjoying the end results. Or hold your 3 fingers together. Need more? Please request via comments below.

Please share your thoughts & comments. Your comments will be published immediately.

cheers,
Vin Bhat, blog.DataProXL.com
contributor, PR, associate coach

The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character." -- T. Alan Armstrong

"It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power." -- Alan Cohen

"No student ever attains very eminent success by simply doing what is required of him: it is the amount and excellence of what is over and above the required, that determines the greatness of ultimate distinction."
-- Charles Kendall Adams

"Endurance is one of the most difficult disciplines, but it is to the one who endures that the final victory comes." -- Buddha

"Success isn’t something you chase. Most people don’t understand that." -- Michael Jordan

----------------------------------------------------

FEATURE: Repetition is the mother of skill

If you want to do anything well, practicing it again and again is definitely a way to achieve peak performance and excellence. Break the bigger task into smaller tasks, focus on one smaller task at a time and mentally repeat yourself doing that task. You can also physically go through the process of doing that task. When you actually get to do that task, it becomes so easy and you can do it excellently in a very short period of time.

See the big picture, break it into chunks, mentally repeat a chunk.

Thats how the professional sports teams execute the plays perfectly everytime. They repeat the same steps over and over to prepare for the big game. Thats how the olympic players prepare as well. Four or more years of preparation for a four minute attempt for the gold.

We are creatures of habit. Excellence is a habit, but don't fall for the perfectionist trap!

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." - Aristotle

When it comes to practice, one name comes to mind is coach John Wooden. He is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player (class of 1961) and a coach (class of 1973). He was the first person ever enshrined in both categories; only Lenny Wilkens and Bill Sharman have since been so honored. He is widely regarded as the greatest college coach in history and his 10 NCAA National Championships while at UCLA are unmatched.[1]

We encourage you to read about him. Read, say or think "One step at a time, one grain of sand at a time. One step enough for me. Take the one simple step that I can take now". Then get to work to complete that step.

----------------------------------------------------

Guest Article: Copying the Success of TR -- By Dr. Philip E. Humbert, PhD

About 30 years ago, a giant of a man and someone I greatly admired, Bruce Thieleman, told me that to keep growing, to serve my clients well, and to stay at the top of my game, I would need to read at least two books a week. For the rest of my life! Fortunately, it's not difficult.

I love reading and I particularly enjoy biographies of notable people.

This week, I read the first volume of Edmund Morris' biography of Theodore Roosevelt. It's fairly massive, about 750 pages, but it's delightful reading. TR's trips to the badlands are as exciting as any western, and in this election year, his time in the New York legislature, his run for Mayor of New York and his years as Governor are particularly intriguing. If you love biographies, this is a superb work.

Most important for TIPS, however, are the lessons we learn from the most influential people in history.

As Tony Robbins and others have said, success is not an accident! It leaves clues. We can learn the tools and skills, the tactics and traits of high achievers, and if we apply them to our own lives, good things happen! There's no mystery about this.

If we copy the habits and patterns of "average" people, we get average results. Almost everyone knows someone (in your family, a neighbor or friend) who refuses to develop their natural talents. This type of failure (what else would you call it?) is all around us. Everyday, we see talented people who permit one or more unfortunate habits to hold them back. Here's a hint: Don't copy them!

Fortunately, we also have models of people who passionately pursue every ounce of talent, opportunity and potential they have. They do things differently. They have habits and attitudes and behaviors that create the results they desire. Here's a hint: Copy THESE people!

So, what have I observed about TR? Obviously, many, many things--enough to fill a massive biography! But here are just a few:

1. Enormous self-discipline. As a skinny, sickly child who nearly died many times, when his father told him he must build his body, he launched himself into an exercise routine that would shame most Olympic athletes. Later, his work and writing schedule amazed even his publishers. His ability to master the intricacies of politics confounded his adversaries. The man knew how to focus.

2. Applied energy. Whether he was herding cattle, running for election, or playing with his children, people marveled at his ability to get things done. He may have had more energy than most of us, but what struck me was his ability to solve problems. He got up early, he worked hard, he loved what he was doing and his passion drove him forward. Winners have the same 24-hour day, but they use their time and energy differently. The get more and better results.

3. Quick, practical intelligence. TR had the ability to see through the confusion of daily life and find real solutions. When faced with family challenges or political opponents, or the thousands of details that confuse and confound most of us, he would pause, consider his primary objective, and cut through the clutter. To use a modern cliché, he "kept his eyes on the prize." For him, there was always a solution and he was determined to find it.

4. Gusto and love of life. Call it what you will, TR's sheer enthusiasm often carried the day. His most common expression was a rollicking, hugely exaggerated shout of "DEEEElighted!" He loved people. He loved challenges and problems. He loved to laugh and he loved his work. He loved life and was not shy about it. People enjoyed being around him (even when they opposed him) and his passion and joy opened doors that would not have been available to others.

Obviously, we shouldn't try to be anyone but ourselves. Each of us is unique and our highest and best is to be precisely and fully who we are. But we can and do learn from others. Unfortunately too often we learn "accidentally" and bad habits too easily find room in our lives. But we can also learn intentionally from the most successful and inspiring people we can find. Choose your models wisely. Your life depends on it.

If you want to stop "running faster and living less"
join us for the World Class Life Conference in May.
Take time to relax, renew, and re-commit to your
most important goals. Focus on practical STRATEGIES
to create and LIVE the life you truly want. But act
quickly! Space is limited and we always fill up.
http://MyWorldClassLife.com

Dr Humbert is a Success Strategist, author and popular
speaker. Imagine what's possible! Regardless of your success or failure, you are a unique and special person. You should like yourself regardless of the circumstances. You love your kids, right? There's an inner child in you. Wouldn't you love that child the same way?

Second, you have unlimited potential. None of us ever come close to realizing our full potential. You only need to take action to make the most of your potential. Realizing the fact that you have all the power and potential to have or be anything you want gives you the hope and confidence to feel good about yourself. So, invest some time in yourself, you are worth it. You have your fair share of skills, talents and abilities and so you deserve a high self esteem. High self esteem is your true nature.

"You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection." - Buddha

"You must love yourself before you love another. By accepting yourself and fully being what you are, your simple presence can make others happy." - Anonymous

~.~.~.~.~.~.~

8 Step Action Plan to Improve Self Esteem

Improving the self esteem:

During the week, take the following simple practical steps. [This is also based on- law of degree of control and law of cause and effect. More on this later]

You may choose the techniques you like and begin with them at first.

1) Read the article: Why “You are Special” and Why does it Matter
http://beinglive.com/Articles/Why-You-are-Special-and-Why-does-it-Matter.aspx

2) Read the article (you may glance over it now & re-visit it later): Power of Affirmations and Music
http://beinglive.com/Articles/Power-of-Affirmations-and-Music.aspx

3) Start practicing the self esteem affirmations on Affirmations tool
http://beinglive.com/members/Affirmations.aspx

Refer to How to use the Affirmations Tool (http://beinglive.com/members/How-to-use-Affirmations.aspx) to add accountability to yourself by keeping track of your affirmation practices.

4) Watch your thoughts and replace any negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Pat yourself for the positive things.

Ex: Replace "People don't like me" with "Most people are good people. I am a good person. Just like I am good towards other people, there are other people who are good towards me. When I see the good in others, I feel great about myself"

5) Meditation and Visualization:

Sit comfortably, breathe deeply couple of times, close your eyes, count backwards from 20 to 1. This will put you in a relaxed state. Now, think about the positive qualities you already possess. You may also think about the positive qualities of a person you admire or of a character in a movie. Ponder the positive impact those qualities have on the person and on the people around. See the benefits of reasonably improving the same qualities where possible. Next, visualize yourself possessing those improved qualities. No need to rush. Be kind to yourself. Inch by inch everything is cinch. Gradually you will see the results. Breathe deeply couple of times and open your eyes.

6) Success Journal: Write down the moments in the past when you felt good about yourself, when you really liked yourself. Write down all of your achievements and good things you did as far back as you can remember (this will come handy later). Do not worry about any failures. Just write down the positive things. Write down the things you like about yourself, your talents & skills, and the great job you did or are doing now. (You can use any notebook as your success journal)

"Nothing builds self-esteem and self-confidence like accomplishment." - Thomas Carlyle

7) Solitude:

10 to 30 minutes a day sit quietly doing nothing. Don't try to analyze anything, don't try to solve anything. Postpone everything for few hours and give yourself a time. This is an indication that you value yourself. At the end of 10 or 30 minutes you will feel fresh with high self image, your mind will present you with solutions to any challenges and you will be ready to charge ahead.

8) You may also write down the affirmations you like on a 3 x 5 index card and read it whenever you can. Reading it in front of a mirror is an effective way.

Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

"It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power." --Alan Cohen

"Courage is the price that Life exacts for granting peace." --Amelia Earhart

"If you deliberately plan on being less than you are capable of being, then I warn you that you'll be unhappy for the rest of your life." --Abraham H Maslow (1908-1970) - Psychologist & Author

----------------------------------------------------

FEATURE: Improve Courage - 8 Simple Steps

In the last issue, we talked about the courage and its role in your success

Courage is not the lack of fear, but the ability to go ahead and do what needs to be done despite of the fear.

There's an acronym for F.E.A.R: False Estimation Appearing as Real. Depending on how you look at things, your fear may or may not appear real to you. Everyone faces fear one time or the other. Although fear is only in our mind, we have to take action in order to live free of it.

Certain amount of fear is good. Fear prepares you for fight or flight. Either you have to face it or you have to run away from it. There's no point in worrying about it. You need courage to pursue your dreams and goals.

One of the biggest cures for fear is - PREPARATION. It’s natural for you to feel the fear when you are trying to do a new thing. Do your home work, get the facts and recall your own past successful events to overcome the fear.

"We're all afraid of something. The one fear we must all guard against is the fear of ourselves. Don't let the sensation of fear convince you that you're too weak to have courage. Fear is the opportunity for courage, not proof of cowardice. No one is born a coward. We were meant to love. And we were meant to have the courage for it." says John McCain, a U.S. Senator. (1)

With the proper mindset, determination, and will power, you can conquer any kind of fear.

"Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others." --Winston Churchill

"We could never learn to be brave and patient if there were only joy in the world." --Helen Keller

Courage is like a muscle. It gets stronger by exercising it.

So, here are the 5 simple steps to improve courage:

1) Feel it, Accept it, and Visualize the positive outcome: Feel the fear. Its ok to be there. Its not going to stop you from taking action. When you feel it and accept it, it goes away like a darkness disappearing when you shine light on it. When you feel and allow it to be there, it releases the stress and anxiety. Then visualize the positive outcome of accomplishing the task you intended. Visualize it fully. There must be something worthwhile you will get, otherwise you wouldn't be trying to do it. Visualize and feel the nice feelings of successful accomplishment.

Do what you feel right to do. Never worry about what “they” say. This quote says it most appropriately- “All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.”

2) Affirmations are one of the best ways to create positive state of mind and enhance the courageous feelings. Practice the Courage Affirmations on Affirmations Tool:
http://www.beinglive.com/members/Affirmations.aspx?Category=15

3) Anchor: Anchoring is like creating trigger mechanism within yourself to instantly create the successful state of mind. To anchor courage, put your hand on your heart and feel the moment in your life when you felt confident and courageous. Feel that moment for 3 to 5 minutes. Do this exercise once everyday.

4) Preparation: If your fear is about - job or a special task you must do - specify the problem, see what can be done, make plans, and take action. Sometimes you won't know what would be the right plan. Some plan is better than no plan. You can work with a coach who can help you clarify your plan and encourage you to take the right action. Ultimately, it is up to you to make the decision. Then the question comes - "Can I get it done?" You can prioritize and work on your priorities. That way you can eliminate stress and accomplish more with peace of mind.

5) Daily physical, vigorous aerobic exercises help you to attain the sound mind in a sound body.

6) Watch a positive, encouraging movie (Ex: Wizard of OZ, Rocky, Rudy, Rookie, Remember the Titans)

7) Read stories and biographies of successful people who have overcome many adversities to reach their goals.

8) Role model: Choose a person you know or a character in a movie in reference to overcoming fear and taking action despite the fear.

Take it easy, be free, and live with passion and courage!

References:
1. McCain, John. "Finding the courage within you." They can get you out of current state of mind and put you in a positive state of mind.

----------------------------------------------------

Successful / Famous People: Lance Armstrong

Read and learn about-
- what is he famous for
- interesting qualities, events, facts
- things we can learn from him

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lance_Armstrong

Lance Armstrong quotes:

"Pain is temporary, it may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place."

"Anything is possible. Personal coaching also helps a client to succeed in business while maintaining quality time with family and a rewarding personal life.

Coaching is defined as- "a strategy used to help a client reach her fullest potential and achieve her goals. The coach first helps to define the goals, and then supports the client in executing them by mapping out a strategy and helping her stay on track. Coaching helps to balance work, family and social demands as well as leisure and spiritual activities." -by East End Guild of Wholistic Practitioners (eastendhealth.com/glossary.asp).

Top Seven Basics:

1) Why Coaching

Even when you have all the facts, it is easy to get distracted and lose focus. If your ambitions and goals are important to you, you need to make sure that you will stay on track. Coaching provides a solid opportunity to achieve your goals fast.

"Coaching can certainly help you strengthen your sense of self-worth, focus on your goals — and get there, fast." - The London Daily Telegraph

People who are already successful in professional sports, in the entertainment industry or in the business world still have a coach because they understand the value that comes from coaching. That is how they keep on winning and make further progress.

2) When to Get Coaching

If I were preparing for a marathon, I would get a coach. If I am planning to start a new business, but do not know how, I would get a coach. I could have used coaching when I was trying to host my first website or when I was trying to learn a new tool. I could use coaching when I want to make progress in life or in business, or live a disciplined life. I could use coaching to set goals, to get support in executing them by mapping out a strategy and to get help to stay on track.

Can I do without coaching? Yes. I can learn on my own and do whatever is necessary to accomplish the desired outcomes. However, it takes longer and becomes difficult and there are pitfalls of giving up. If I can afford, I would get a coach, so that I can focus on achieving my goals and live a rewarding life with discipline. Coaching helps me to keep myself accountable and on track.

3) How to Find a Coach

Searching on the internet can bring you many options. You may also ask around in your personal network. When you ask around, look for the facts, not the opinions. Everyone's needs and goals are different. Choose the one that is suitable and affordable to your needs. See the expertise of the coach below.

4) Competence and Expertise of the Coach

Personal and Business Coaches Daniel Midson-Short and David Wood, PCC note that - coaches do not need to be certified to begin coaching, though it is important for development of the skill and the coaching profession. In addition, that - coaching the clients and helping them to change and improve their lives will give a coach more confidence and marketability than all the certificates the resume can hold. (Independent Report on Coach Training and Certification by Daniel Midson-Short & David Wood, PCC)

There are many successful coaches – some are certified, some are not.

A client should choose a coach with whom he feels comfortable and who is suitable for his specific needs. Client can try the free sessions and see if a particular coaching program is suitable and affordable for his or her needs.

If you are looking for a general life coaching, any life coach may do. If you have specific goals and needs, you need a coach who is competent enough or who has experience in coaching others with similar goals. Example: Starting a web based business, online marketing, investment and trading, learning a new software language, developing and marketing software etc. Coaching is not training but a coach having knowledge of a particular field can greatly reduce your time and efforts.

5) Coaching Relationship

A solid coaching relationship is important for long-term success and ongoing progress of the client in accomplishing his goals with less stress and in less time. James Flaherty notes in "Coaching: Evoking Excellence in Others" that the elements in a coaching relationship comprise of - mutual respect, mutual trust, mutual freedom of expression. Confidentiality is an important part of the communication in coaching. Client should open up to sharing the actual situations than what he thinks the coach wants to hear. Coach should be open enough to observe the things that matter without judging.

6) Commitment

Commitment to the coaching process should be from both client and coach. Both should agree about schedules, about what is possible and what is acceptable. Address any obstacles. Client is the one who needs to take action and it is his or her interest in focus in coaching. Coach holds the client accountable and encourages doing more. The schedules and action plans are flexible and can be adjusted based on the new circumstances or possibilities. Coach should state clearly the practical steps involved in accomplishing the desired outcomes, without trying to sugar coat, but at the same time believing in client's ability to achieve them through a practical approach.

7) Coaching Process

Identify the immediate concerns and future possibilities. Set goals, establish a strategy, and make an action plan. The purpose of the coaching is to help the client take action and stay on track. Therefore, it is an ongoing process for the duration of the coaching period. Coach and client communicate on scheduled intervals, anywhere from weekly to monthly basis. Client can be assigned with homework and assignments.

Coaching is a process of observation, correction and improvements. The purpose of the coaching has the client's best interests in focus. The same techniques become less effective overtime. That is how so many New Year resolutions fail. Therefore, the ongoing communication is an important key to get the full benefits of coaching. Rather than just a course, coaching is an ongoing, evolving process through questions and feedback.

Coach's goal is to keep the coaching sessions and the process as practical as possible for the client to succeed, as the client may already be busy with his own tasks.

When you establish goals and create an action plan, the progress should be measurable. Ex: If a client is struggling to stay motivated and disciplined to exercise regularly, with the help of a coach, if he is able to exercise regularly for 60 days, then this is identifiable. Coach's goal is to make the client take action towards the attainment of desired outcomes.

* Important Key: Commitment, Communication and Hope

Understanding the fact that coaching is for client's own benefit helps him stay committed to the coaching relationship. One's own resolution to continue the process is what keeps it going. It is easy to get bored and give up. Client and coach keep the communication going and address any obstacles and hindrances, and implement the required solutions and plans.

There must be something worthwhile that you (client) are trying to accomplish. Never lose sight of the HOPE - there is always a hope of getting to where you want be, as long as you do not give up.

To learn what the successful people and the media are telling about coaching, see - why coaching.

Copyright © 2006 BeingLive.com.

BeingLive.com provides top-notch, effective and affordable Personal Success Coaching Program to help you realize more of your potential, achieve your goals and enjoy success in many areas of your life. Anything you want to achieve gets done with your daily activities. It is important that you will have enough motivation and energy to carry out the day's tasks to achieve your goals. This article shows you how.
Using the affirmations is one of the effective ways to get that motivation and to program yourself to have a successful and winning day. When you wake up in the morning, say each sentence out loud four times - “Today, I will have a winning day”,"I am a winner","All is well with me now".Then, during the day, repeat mentally or aloud - "Today, I am having a winning day".
Anything you want to do, start it now. Then, getting things done will be easy.
"Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!" - Goethe
Mike R had creative ideas. His problem was inability to get those things done. Every morning when he got up, he thought, “I am going to complete them today”. However, he had to rush to his day job. By the time he got home in the evening, he was so tired; he was exhausted physically and mentally. His dreams and goals kept on getting postponed and he grew frustrated day by day. He had to take a different approach.
He made plans to accomplish his ideas when he got up in the morning, when his mind and body were fresh and creative. He made plans to get up early and just start to work on his goals. Day by day, he made progress. He made arrangements to come to his day job a little late and stay a little late to make up for the time.
Every morning when he got up, he shouted four times-"Today, I will have a winning day""I am a winner""All is well with me now"
Visit the BeingLive.com Self Affirmations Tool for Getting Things Done - one of the effective affirmation tools - free online.
And then, he started working on his goals and plans. He got pumped up because his goals are getting accomplished and dreams were coming true. So, when he got to his day job, he was motivated and his productivity increased at work. At the end of the day when he returned home, his mind was clear and even if the energy was low, he was able to complete at least one creative idea or one maintenance task, just by starting it. Many times, starting to do a task is all it takes to get things done. He did physical exercises, spent time with his family, read motivational or educational books, watched a little TV and got excited to start the next day with more enthusiasm and vigor.
Start your day well. Many times, starting to do a task is all it takes to getting things done. Practice the key skills to perfection just like a professional athlete hones his or her skills everyday. Have a winning day!
Action Plan:- Use affirmations and anchors to maintain the positive state of mind.- Maintain energy by taking adequate amounts of nutritious food and taking breaks.- Keep fit: Aerobic exercises and strength training.- Work on your important goal or on a creative idea first thing in the morning.- Work on at least one creative idea or a maintenance task in the evening.
To practice personal success and other affirmations in specific areas, visit: BeingLive.com – Self Affirmations Tool (http://beinglive.com/members/Affirmations.aspx) - one of the effective affirmation tools - free online. Still, why are some people more successful than others? You might have been inspired by a book or tape in the past. Why doesn't that motivation last longer? Even if you already know the things, why weren’t you able to apply them effectively as the time goes by? The answers to these questions are in affirmations.
Key point is you need to be constantly reminded of the positive qualities you already possess. It has been said that the repetition is the mother of skill. Self-Affirmations provide an excellent way to accomplish that.

It’s a well known fact that our beliefs create our reality. If we think we can win, we can. Affirmations are the best way to develop our belief system.

What is Affirmation?

The Official I AM University website defines Affirmation as "A positive statement that has been specifically worded for the purpose of reprogramming the subconscious mind with positive and spiritual thoughts. One of the key tools of attitudinal healing and reprogramming our subconscious mind. This is a fundamental tool given that our thoughts create our reality!" (iamuniversity.org/glossary/cv_glossarylist.php)

Affirmation is also known as: Pep talk, Autosuggestion, Positive self talk, Self-suggestion, Self-Affirmation, Mental programming, Positive thinking, Self-hypnosis, Psycho-cybernetics, the Alpha method.

Affirmation is the medium for influencing the subconscious mind.

How Do Affirmations Work?

You know the commercials - same advertisements are shown over and over again. They know the importance of repetition. It takes repetition for an idea to sink in our minds. You need to do the same thing with the positive qualities you are aware of, for them to be absorbed and acted upon by your subconscious.

Napoleon Hill says in Think and Grow Rich - "Here is a most significant fact - the subconscious mind takes any orders given it in a spirit of absolute FAITH, and acts upon those orders, although the orders often have to be presented over and over again, through repetition, before they are interpreted by the subconscious mind."

Statistics show that negative news is broadcast 11 times more than good news. How can we positively influence our thinking in such a negative environment that we live in? Auto-suggestions help you stay positive even during adverse conditions.

The law of correspondence says our outer reality is a reflection of our inner reality. You attract what you are. It’s true with your financial success or any other success.

Pat Riley, Coach, Miami Heat Basketball team, 2006 NBA champions, quoted - "A champion needs a motivation above and beyond winning" - When you find your purpose and commit it to your core through affirmations you can find that kind of motivation.

A coach motivates his team. Words motivate. You use the affirmations to motivate yourself.

Psychologists and scriptures affirm again and again the importance of having faith. One must have faith in self to achieve any amount of success. "... FAITH is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of auto-suggestion." - says Napoleon Hill, the author of the classic Think and Grow Rich - "… you may CONVINCE the subconscious mind that you believe you will receive that for which you ask, and it will act upon that belief, which your subconscious mind passes back to you in the form of 'FAITH', followed by definite plans for procuring that which you desire.

".... any impulse of thought which is repeatedly passed on to the subconscious mind is, finally, accepted and acted upon by the subconscious mind, which proceeds to translate that impulse into its physical equivalent, by the most practical procedure available."
To read the entire article, please click here.

One of the best self-affirmation tools freely available online is BeingLive.com - Affirmations Tool.

Copyright © 2006 Vin Bhat.
-------------------------------------------

FEATURE: Courage and Its Role in Your Success

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines courage as - mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.

So the courage is not the lack of fear, but the ability to go ahead and do what needs to be done despite of the fear.

Winston Churchill has quoted "Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others."

It takes courage to be self disciplined, to take responsibility, to accept your own mistakes, to apologize, to be righteous. No one is perfect. If you make a mistake, admit, accept and move on with courage. As simple as it may sound, you can use courage to practice the positive daily habits, to get up in the morning and to do the physical exercises. You need courage to be bold, strong and tough. You need courage to succeed in business. As Donald Trump says, you need guts, to be tough and to achieve any major success.

You need courage to pursue your dreams and goals. Is it OK to have self doubts? Of course it’s OK. Overcome them by developing courage. Anyone who is trying to accomplish anything worthwhile thinks once in a while "Can I do it? Is it possible for me?" But you can charge ahead by taking a rational approach. Courage makes it possible.

Like any other human quality, courage is learned through various experiences beginning from the childhood. Charles A. Smith, PhD states - "A day comes in every person's life when there is a choice between acting out of fear and doing the right thing. The power that originated in that person's first six years will make the difference. Courage finds its roots in two fundamental skills learned during early childhood: persevering despite adversity and remaining mindful despite fear." (1)

It takes courage to step up to the plate. Once you know that you have adequate knowledge or you know that you have the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge, you can step up to the plate to manage a task. Follow your heart's desire despite any self doubts. Take courage and take charge of your dreams and goals.

It’s natural for you to feel the fear when you are trying to do a new thing. Do your homework, get the facts and recall your own past successful events to overcome the fear.

Winston Churchill took courage, Mahatma Gandhi took courage. So are thousands of their followers.

U.S. Senator John McCain notes "If you do the thing you think you cannot do, you'll feel your resistance; your hope, your dignity, and your courage grow stronger. You will someday face harder choices that very well might require more courage. And when those moments come and you choose well, your courage will be recognized by those who matter most to you. When your children see you choose, without hesitation, without remark, to value virtue more than security, to love more than you fear, they will learn what courage looks like and what love serves, and they will dread its absence." (2)

What about the sudden feelings of fear you experience in certain situations (like when you see a poisonous snake or a burglar trying to attack you)? It’s the natural response of your body which prepares you for flight or fight. So certain fear is good. Its makes you cautious and better prepared. What's not good is when the fear overtakes you for a long term and cripples you from pursuing your dreams and goals. You need courage to control such fears and to take positive actions towards your goals.

When you get up in the morning or when you think of going for a jogging and the mind tries to convince you to procrastinate, ask yourself "What am I afraid of? Am I afraid of the little nuisance of the negative mind?" and take action. When you are daunted by pressing deadlines or unexpected circumstances, say to yourself - "I am not afraid of hard work", "Little bit of inconvenience is not going to hurt me, I am strong enough, I can handle it."

Courage is like a muscle. It gets stronger by exercising it.

In the next part, we will discuss 5 simple steps to improve courage. Till then ponder upon the situations where you can be more courageous.

One of the effective ways to learn and improve the courageous quality is to use affirmations. Try the affirmations tool to practice affirmations on courage.

References:
1. Till then, let me focus on the current task", etc.
Also, if the mind is jumping between too many things at once, postpone couple of things by an hour or two. It's estimated that an average person watches about or more than 20 hours of TV each week. Compared to that, number of people or amount of time people spend reading is very less. An interested person can read many helpful articles online. I was trying to anaylyze the advantages of reading, and here are few:

Many times you just need one good idea that can solve your problems or it can work wonders for you. You will find such ideas in these articles.

Whether you are a right brained (right brain dominant) person or a left brained person, you will benefit from reading articles. Right brain is the creative, emotional, imaginative side of the brain. Left brain is the logical, rational side of the brain.

Triggers ideas

Opens and increases creativity

You will gain knowledge and awareness

Relaxes your mind

etc.,

Please add the additional reasons Or why reading is better than TV or vice versa.
